Director, Public Affairs
Story Partners, a leading public affairs firm in Washington, D.C., is seeking a director to develop and implement strategic public affairs campaigns on behalf of our clients. This role calls for a dynamic public affairs professional with a broad skill set who has the ability to multi-task and work across a range of client accounts, handling many of the day-to-day deliverables. The successful candidate will have 5-7 years of public affairs experience, with at least 3-4 years at a public relations agency. Story Partners is a hybrid work environment offering flexibility and balance of working from home and going into the office.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute integrated public affairs campaigns that include media relations, grassroots advocacy, digital and social media, events, executive positioning, and thought leadership.
- Prioritize client accounts by engaging regularly with client contacts, handling many of the day-to-day deliverables, and consistently pursuing impactful, innovative, and creative strategies.
- Draft a wide range of high-quality communications materials, including opinion pieces, press releases, newsletter content, fact sheets, website, and advertising copy, etc.
- Develop and implement tailored earned media strategies and generate media placements on behalf of clients.
- Strong event management skills, with the ability to plan and execute high-profile events, such as press conferences, forums, salon dinners, etc.
- Leverages a deep understanding of the social media landscape and digital advertising strategies to drive client outcomes.
- Participate in business development opportunities such as idea generation, building campaign strategies, and drafting proposals and presentations.
- Manage and liaise with external vendors such as media buyers, photographers, etc.
- Collaborate with all members of the Story Partners team to support client accounts.
Qualifications:
- At least five years of public affairs experience in Washington, D.C., including three to four years at a public relations agency; Capitol Hill experience is a plus but not required.
- A passion for providing outstanding client service.
- A strong writer with a persuasive writing portfolio.
- Prior experience implementing social media and digital advertising strategies, pitching media and generating media placements, and planning and executing events.
- Excellent project and team management skills with an ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines.
- Detail-oriented team player and self-starter who works well in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor’s Degree.

Digital Manager
DIGITAL MANAGER
Story Partners is seeking a Digital Manager to manage online and social media campaigns. Qualified candidates will have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience with strategy development, community management, editorial planning, online advertising and social analytics.
Responsibilities:
- Lead digital programs for communications and public affairs clients across array of industries
- Advise clients and account leads on emerging social trends, research and best practices to identify new opportunities and solutions
- Execute ongoing social community management, monitoring and reporting, continuously evaluating new and compelling ways to engage audiences online.
- Plan and execute online advertising and search engine marketing campaigns, including planning, buying, budgeting, and optimization
- Develop analytic reports to properly measure effectiveness and make data-driven recommendations for strategy and improvements
- Monitor social media conversations and trends to identify opportunities for clients to leverage story telling opportunities in real-time
- Conduct email marketing campaigns
- Perform research and prepare new business materials (e.g., proposals, pitches)
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years digital project management experience, preferably in an agency environment
- Demonstrated experience managing social communities for brands, companies, nonprofits or issue-based organizations.
- Proficiency with social management platforms (e.g., Sprout) and social media monitoring platforms (e.g., Meltwater)
- Proficiency in Google Adwords
- Ability to think creatively and spot trends
- Proven ability to learn quickly and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A passion for everything digital
- Bachelor’s degree
